2nd Anniversary of Builds!

...Yeah...

As much as I would love to celebrate this anniversary with some huge update, as it is looking that is not feasible.

At least not yet.

Once all of my time gets opened up, I'm going to start devoting time to learning Godot or Unity, most likely unity. If I feel as though i have a good base for movement, I will post builds and/or devlogs tracking this. It was inevitable, but Clickteam Fusion 2.5 just is not a good engine, by any means. It has instancing issues, limited albeit more understandable coding styles, and really jank sprite handling (and a crazy bad photo editor to boot). If I want to make this game any more than what I can currently do, I'm going to HAVE to switch to a different engine. You can argue that Baba Is You or Five Nights At Freddy's were able to hit it big with these engines, but not only do I want to make more games, I also don't want to limit myself to this one platform, with it being a hindrance and all. Besides, I know how to model basic things and how to rig somewhat, so if I can learn unity at all that means I'm already one step closer to making 3-D games! That'd be a sight to behold. And regarding Godot, I was able to use a template and make a texture swap of it with accurate physics, but the jumping mechanic befuddled me, so I ultimately scrapped it.

Panic Machine is not dying. It isn't going to be revived after this post, either. For now, I'm putting it into hiatus until I can make time out of school to dedicate time to learning and developing in Unity/Godot. This is a passion project, and I don't want it all to go down the drain just because I wasn't using the best engine I could have. I want the best for the project, and I think it's best for both me and Panic Machine if we just got time.

And to get time, we have to be patient. Remember, I am not getting paid for this, nor is anyone working on this getting paid for this.

Please be patient.

P.S.

I will still be trying to work on other stuff and projects in the few hours per day I have, outside of Panic Machine. Even if my other projects decide to use Clickteam Fusion 2.5, that does not mean I am sticking with it. However, I did pay for Clickteam, after all. Can't just throw it away like that.
